A very insightful article I came across recently, really got me thinking. Babies have it right — they explore and experiment openly with life, without fear of making mistakes, or even awareness that mistakes exist. In fact, when babies engage in a task or challenge, they instinctively shut out the rest of the world and concentrate deeply to connect with the task at hand and follow it through to its completion. There's no thought or concern about the implications of the action. When a child is learning to walk she doesn't have thoughts like "What if i don't make it over to the table with the shiny object on it before it's removed?" or, "If I fall down, will people laugh?" If you're trying to foster creativity in your day-to-day work, there are things you can do to boost your imagination and get the creative juices to flow. Here are some great techniques: 1. Brainstorm. Write down every single thing that comes to your mind when you're trying to address something. Eliminate nothing. Be ridiculous... silly even. Genius can come from the seemingly unlikely. |
