We’ve got a secret—sort of. Not that we’ve been trying to keep it under wraps necessarily, but I couldn’t let more time go by without sharing this company milestone. insight180 is (quietly) celebrating 25 years in business. In many ways, it’s a year like any other—projects to guide, brands to clarify, stories to tell. But as a wise friend reminded me, acknowledging milestones matters. They help us pause, take stock, and remember how far we’ve come. Why Quietly? Because our work at insight180 has always been about the other.
We’re happy to introduce Andrea Kagey, insight180’s new Client Communications Manager. While she may be new to Maryland, Andrea is no stranger to the world of story, an important part of the branding process. Going through a bit of a personal “rebrand” herself, Andrea brings a fresh perspective, years of client experience, and unmatched enthusiasm to the role. In this blog, she tells us all about the windy path that led her to our team.
Back in January, the insight180 team was excited for the promise of 2020. No, really! We were busier than ever, exhilarated by the work we were doing, and making plans to celebrate our 20th anniversary in business this year! Woo hoo! In late February, I personally experienced the trip of a lifetime traveling to Costa Rica for what was truly an epic business/connection retreat. I returned home on March 3rd and by March 13th, Maryland was in lockdown. My team, our clients, and basically everybody we know were thrust into new territory, making huge adjustments to the way we lived and worked. Fear and uncertainty became part of the daily narrative.
The calendar in our office still marks our last day in the office, before the great pause. Since Friday, March 13th our hearts have been broken in so many different ways. A global pandemic and the struggle of so many in their final breaths. Loved ones being separated during that time. Parents trying to do their day job while educating and parenting and sharing their devices and “office space,” and maybe finding a moment of peace. Physical and social distancing. Divisiveness on social media and in our country. And then Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, dear Lord not again… struggling in their final breaths. Racism is also pandemic. We’ve made a mess of things. It’s difficult. It’s uncomfortable. We have gotten so much wrong.
Nastasia Vasconcells, insight180’s new digital marketing coordinator, shares three ways the practical experience of college internships were instrumental in preparing her for work at insight180. Are internships important? Nastasia offers an emphatic, “Yes, absolutely.” Read about how her on-site internships enhanced her college learning experience better prepared her for her new, full-time position.
Insight180 is celebrating 20 years in business this year. Wow! Twenty years of working with some truly great organizations to create great brands and have more impact in the world. Twenty years of curiosity, listening and discovery. Of beautiful design and smart strategy. Of amazing people, teamwork, resilience, generosity, and opportunity.
Owned by Facebook since 2012, Instagram is the most visual social media platform. It’s quickly growing into one of the most used (and liked) platforms, with 500 million daily active users. Many business-to-consumer (B2C) companies, like Starbucks, famously use Instagram to highlight their products, values and special promotions. By creating on-brand, visually appealing posts, Starbucks has created a following based around their products.
Insight180 is delighted to welcome Nikole McWright to our team! Disguised as a mild-mannered office manager, Nikole’s superpowers include organizational magic and mastery.
A temporary move out of and then back to Old Ellicott City, exciting new projects, tried and true clients, exciting artistic endeavors…. Whether it was onboarding a new brand positioning client, designing a logo or annual report, or expanding outreach for our clients on social media, insight180 had a memorable and creative 2018. We also had some challenges, including the second “100-year flood” in Ellicott City within two years, displacing us…again. But we didn’t let that get us down! Thanks to our own business continuity plan, we were able to work remotely and communicate effectively with each other and our clients during the six-plus months we were out of the office.
